Back In Action!

Hello everyone,

I hope this blog post finds you well.

Twenty years after moving from London to the countryside near Rye, I have downsized from my four-bedroom oast house, with its huge garden and separate studio, to Cator Cottage, next to New Beckenham Station in South London.

After a 20-year flirtation with the countryside, my love affair with trains, the city and commuter life has been happily rekindled by my cottage beside the railway.

I’m in my 80s and, sadly, I am no longer able to use my press. Therefore, it was painfully necessary to sell my trusty heavyweight Rochat press and dispose of large swathes of prints, drawings, paintings and materials that had built up over the years.

Clearing my house and studio, living in temporary accommodation and settling into a new home has meant virtually no new work for a year. However, a slimmed-down selection of the best of my prints and paintings has moved with me, and I still have a (albeit smaller) studio in which to continue my collage and mixed-media works. I also hope to take up my early love of oil painting again.

I am now much more accessible to my London collectors, being just 15 minutes from London Bridge, with what feels like my own train station next door. My studio is open (by appointment only) to view the latest paintings and collages, as well as many of my earlier Londoners’ London series, the organic layered images, and the Spanish and New Zealand etchings.

Works are also available online here on my website and can be sent post-free anywhere in the world. I am currently restructuring my website; some of it still makes sense, but much of the newer work is not yet listed.
